ABC: Apple Boozy Cider
So it’s that time of year where we’re looking for something cozy to drink. And boozy, don’t forget boozy. This was super easy, but I don’t personally love star anise so I added a little nutmeg instead. Oh and pro tip: make the cider before you get the bourbon out. Per my research, you may not have enough bourbon left if you don’t. Enjoy!
Ingredients
4 1/2 cups apple cider
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 whole cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
1 whole star anise or fresh shaved nutmeg
8 ounces Bourbon, I recommend Bulleit or Maker’s Mark, but good old Jack does the job
4 slices navel orange, for garnish
Instructions
Place the apple cider, cinnamon stick, orange juice, cloves and star anise in a small pot and bring to a boil. Lower to a simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and strain into a pitcher.
In the glass, add 2 oz bourbon and 1 cup of the cider mix.
Garnish with an orange slice and and serve warm. But to be honest, this tastes good cold as well. And lukewarm. Serve with graham crackers topped with Pumpkin Spice Sunbutter and whipped cream.
