Blackberry Watermelon Lemonade

Sun’s out—time for some lemonade! While I love a good old fashioned lemonade, I love flavored lemonade more. And, it’s blackberry season! Add some watermelon, and you’ve got summer in a glass. Oh, and I added some lime juice to this recipe because watermelon and lime work so well together. Also, you don’t need as much sugar in this because watermelon is already pretty sweet. Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 cup blackberries

4 cups chopped watermelon

6 cups water

3/4 cup sugar (I used granulated sugar, but use whatever sugar or sweetener you like—remember, honey and sugar substitutes are sweeter than regular sugar)

3/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice

1/4 cup lime juice

Instructions

Put water on to boil.

In the meantime, put blackberries in blender and puree. Strain through fine mesh strainer, using spoon or spatula to press juice through seeds. You can strain in right into the pitcher

Rinse out blender, then puree the watermelon. Strain into pitcher.

Add lemon and lime juice to pitcher

Once water boils, take off heat and mix in sugar. Allow to cool.

When sugar/water mixture has cooled, add to fruit juice mix in pitcher. Serve over ice and garnish with rosemary, mint, or basil for a pop of freshness.
